about the pioneer winter collective

Pioneer Winter Collective is a Miami-based, intergenerational and physically integrated dance-theater company that creates performance in public spaces, museums and galleries, stages, schools, and film. We believe that every body dances, and every body carries validity and virtuosity. Rooted in social practice and community, our collaboratively devised work celebrates queerness, humanity, and vulnerability. Through innovative performances, deep community engagement, and ongoing workshops and residencies, we create with like minded artists to address social justice and equity. The heart of this work resides in dissolving barriers, bringing real bodies and lived experience to the forefront. Our work aims to expand the definition of dance so all bodies survive, thrive, and are witnessed.

We are growing into our collectivity, our ability to match each other’s movements. We are doing this by building a shared vocabulary, for gaining a better understanding of our individual needs, impulses, physicalities, and of the histories that imbue them, reflects PWC’s dramaturg Jeremy Stoller.
